The twentieth century witnessed an intensified debate on gender among African scholars. The close focus discussion called for incorporating of women's views into daily activities. New Africa leadership has embraced for women's distinctive visions to transform social, economic and political development. This has clearly called for the rewriting of history of such contributions of female leaders. Therefore Obaapa Kente in recognition of women's achievements was created.
